29th April 2008

999Today food critic Natasha Heard lifts the lid on the villages' two pubs - The Church House Inn and The Tradesman's Arms.

The Church House Inn
A fantastic country pub with a large beer garden. The Church House Inn serves a good selection of home-cooked food, wines and beer. The imaginative menu goes beyond the usual pub grub but remains reasonably priced. Wednesday night is Jazz Night with weekly performances from locals Ed and Reg and their Gazunder Jazz Band. Great fun! The pub holds regular quiz nights and Summer BBQs. Open every day for drinks from 11.00. Lunch is served between 12 noon till 2.00pm and dinner between 6.00pm till 9.00pm.

The Tradesman's Arms
Tucked out of the way behind the church, the Tradesman's Arms is a part-thatched pub and restaurant with a delightful beer garden across the road. It serves a good selection of real ales and ciders - some very local to Stokenham. The menu includes home-made specials using fresh fish and meats plus a 'Curry of the day'.
